I bought the 250gig hd, 2gig ram, 1.3ghz atom from walmart for 298 on sale, it did suck right out of the box, but basically every computer seems to suck out of the box, especially with mcafee antivirus, i removed that and it has worked great ever since, i upgraded from vista basic to windows 7 ultimate and it got even better. i dont see a single problem with this unit, keyboard is nice, only thing its lacking is the cd/dvd drive but you knwo they dont come with it, so deal with it. otherwise it does anything that you need it to online, you can watch divx movies, listen to mp3's etc, etc

This thing is badass!
Remove all the added unnecessary crap that typically comes installed on any manufactured computer, run disk cleanup, defrag and this thing is faster than my gf's dual core Asus S6F Pink Leather series, she's jealous! BTW I got the 250GB HD 2GB RAM one with vista basic, I'm sure this makes a huge difference in performance. I did buy a 64GB Kingston SSD which I am returning because it's no faster than the mechanical drive the system came with. I'm VERY pleased with this little beast! Soon as windows 7 comes out I'll be purchasing that as well to put onto it. I vowed I'd never buy a laptop or pay for a copy of windows for that matter in the 13 years I've been working on computers but this one takes the cake and broke me down after reading all the reviews and really needing something portable and will allow me to do site design in Adobe GoLive CS2 and Office 2k7 and just run general professional applications. I haven't played with the webcam cuz that's not my sort of thing but now thinking about it I want to. The sound is superb. It plays HD movies flawlessly so long as they are on the hard drive and not streaming from the wifi as the more bandwidth needed by the wifi the more cpu power needed and kills it. This does way more than I needed. I was able to get it from the default 1.9 Vista scoring up to 2.7 after tweaking. Spend an hour and a half cleaning it up and this was worthy of every dollar. I'm pimping this to everyone I know and will prob. buy a stack around xmas to give away of course after I copy a the cleaned up copy of the image I made of mine so I don't have to spend an 2 hours each on them. I personally hate wal-mart myself and usually refuse to shop there but they broke me on that too selling this thing for $350 compared to Microcenter wanting $367 for the one with half the ram and 100GB less hard drive space and only XP home. This is the best money I've ever spent on something I said I'd never buy.

I tried buying the model sold at Walmart with almost double the HD space and Ram running Windows Vista Basic (no upgrade to Windows 7 like often offered). The screen was beautiful, as stated by someone else, easier on older eyes, keyboard - negligible difference from my work laptop, so it looked like I'd hit the jackpot. As soon as I got it booted up and tried swimming around web-sites, it slowed to a crawl taking a good 10-20 seconds to change pages on simple searches. Forget Facebook - I got tired of waiting, shut it down and returned it.
It was quite depressing to have to give up the 11.6 screen, but the processor was a deal breaker. I'm looking toward the Toshiba Mini NB205-N313 maybe.

This model is now carried at Costco, at least in the Seattle area, although not shown on their website. For $349 you get the slower 1.33Ghz Z520, 160Gb HDD, Windows XP Home w/ SP3, 3-cell battery, and the nice backlit screen.

For $339 Costco also has an HP 10.1" model with faster processor, same (1 gig) memory, and pretty much all the other same features, but with a faster 1.6Ghz Z530.

I saw it at the Walmart in Salem, NH today. Price is $398 for a blue one w/ 3 cell battery. Unfortunately they only had the display model. Unfortunately Windows Vista Basic was installed on it. I'm not sure how much RAM it had on it - System Properties just showed N/A under RAM. It ran fine, but not too fast, wasn't able to try much on it. I'm thinking one could maybe overclock the Z520 CPU to 1.6 Ghz?
