Replying to Avid’s comments on Windows 7 – The home premium comes with XP compatibility kit which enables you to run things that are only XP compatible. I too am wanting a N510, but I would like it to come with Windows 7. I have been waiting since about July for the right netbook to come along, and if they release the N510 within the next few weeks, then I will be going for it for definate.

Do let us know whether the GTA 4 works on this system. If it works, any game would work on this machine, keeping in mind that this has the Nvidia ION LE.

Bought one on Monday from Shop.co.uk at £391 which was much cheaper than other places (expansys, carphone warhouse, amazon etc all more expensive) and it just turned up! Am sooooo excited!

I went to Tott Ct Rd in London to have a play with all the coollest netbooks – this isn’t the most stylish but def has the best spec for my needs,although was tempted to get a compaq 702 as a much cheaper alternative – very well made for £250 i thought.

I agree with kod3. Hey kod3, I appreciate your research work. Am also like you. Each and everyday, I google out whether any new gaming capable netbooks are out. Let us and wait and take the best decision rather than spending it on less powerful netbooks.

Another issue is the OS. Whatever latest OS comes out, nothing can beat the XP Pro. Why don’t the companies understand and issue appropriate drivers for all the OS? There are people like me who are very comfortable with this OS and also have compatible software applications and games that support only XP and not Vista or Windows7..

Due to this restriction of using only the given OS which officially supports the PC is not kind enough. There are methods of downloading the drivers individually from the respective sites, but its on experiment basis … which may or may not function.

Let us wait for The Perfect Netbook.

Now something new has just popped in,
The product manual for samsung N510 was just released few days back and it states that the graphic card is Nvidia ION LE ( not original ION ) which only supports direct X 9 not 10.
Since xp cannot support Dx10 so its OS would be xp only and even if u upgrade to win 7 later u would not be able to utilize the power of DX10

I thus think its mch btr to jst wait n watch till november before jumpin in any conclusion

I would personally go for the N510, because 1366×768 is better then 1280×800 to me.
It is also a bit smaller 11,6 vs 12,1″, which I also like better.
Last but not least, it is available now with ION (I only found S12 with GMA 950).
Battery life seems Ok too.

For me the final decision will be about running OS X .
If anyone got it working , please let me know.

as u guyz were doin i too had been researching the netbook industry 4 like a month now in search most powerful netbook. Delay of lenovo s12 has really made ma life miserable. For me portability is a bigconcern but i cannot compromize on my gaming also thus yet to make my mind up to either wait for lenovo s12 or jst go n buy n510. Plz suggest

First of all, congrats on your purchase Chrissz…
Had a look at your benchmark.
1080p HD cannot play?
What?
I don’t remember the link, but just google and see, there is a video that clearly shows the NC10 & N510 next to each other, playing the HD video…
The N510 plays it so smoothly, whereas the NC10 struggles to make the video playback smooth…. I mean it stutters, stops…. and continues…
If this is the case with the Samsung N510, hey…. wait a sec…. do you have the “ION LE” processor?
Cause I read somewhere that the “ION” original’ processor would be available only after October…
Just check your specifications.

And I did some research, and there is one model that has an ATI 3450 (256 MB) with N280 processor (1.66 GHZ), 10.1 inches.
Its the Asus EEE PC 1000HV.
Yes, Asus has come out with this one after the N10J-A2, which had the 9300 GPU (256 MB).
I also heard that the ATi 3450 is equal to the nVidia 9400 GPU. Is it?

I think this a good one.
Small form factor – 10.1 inches.
Best CPU – N280 and not N270!
Best GPU? – ATi 3450 (256 MB)
Better Company? – Asus (Is Samsung leading in the laptop section?)
Can this handle GTA4?

Well, I bought it yesterday.
I already own a NC10.
But the graphic performance is way below my expectations!!
I can play 720p and 1080p HD content on the NC10 easily but the N510 you can’t play it. Check this benchmark NC10 vs N510 I made and posted on Tweakers.net (dutch).
