Samsung’s CULV-based X120 ultra-thin full specs unveiled

September 3, 2009 at 6:44 pm

Samsung X120Details on the Samsung X120 CULV-powered 11.6-inch ultra-thin first appeared yesterday. Whilst the manual was already live, there was little detail in terms of exact specs. However, the Samsung X120 product page is now live on the Samsung website which reveals all.

The X120 comes with an 11.6-inch (1366 x 768) glossy display and is powered by a 1.3GHz SU4100 ULV processor, GS45 chipset and 4500MD graphics. It ships with 2GB RAM, but it has 2 DIMM slots suggesting a maximum of 4GB RAM. Storage is catered for by a 250GB SATA HDD.

The X120’s touchpad supports multi-touch support, but we are disappointed to see the mouse buttons placed either side of the touchpad. Other features include HDMI, Wi-Fi (Draft-N), three USB ports. It will ship with a 4-cell battery and measures just 25.4mm in thickness. The X120 weighs 1.36kg. The Samsung X120 will initially launch in the UK with Windows XP, but will be “refreshed” when Windows 7 launches on 22 October. Whilst a UK price hasn’t been confirmed, it is expected to hit Europe for €699.

The X120 looks to be solidly built, something that was proved by Engadget, who actually stood on the device to highlight this point! Check out the video below.

I believe thats a vid of the 14inch, as you can see the mouse buttons on the bottom. Nevertheless, Samsung always has nice build.

I’m looking for a netbook and can’t make up my mind. I really like the look of this but the Samsung website says it’s being shipped with Vista but your blurb says it launches with XP. Which is it? I wouldn’t go for this if it’s Vista. Also why no Bluetooth, seems a shame to miss that out.

Got this netbook through work. It is NOT as strong as they make out. For an unknown reason after 1 month, the screen was broken in three places, leading to a costly £180 repair job.

Get a tough case the sleeve it comes in is flimsy.

Otherwise, nice netbook, brilliant screen quality.
