January 8, 2010 at 10:07 am
Intel has officially unveiled the beta of its netbook application store, dubbed the AppUp Centre. As you would expect, the app store is primarily for Intel Atom-powered devices. This launch follows the developer SDK beta in early December, currently Intel have 3,000 developers signed up to the program.
Both free and paid-for apps will be listed including social networking, media and IM apps. These will be broken down into different categories including education, entertainment, games, communication, home & family and social.
AppUp will be preinstalled on a number of manufacturer’s websites including those from Acer, ASUS, Dell and Samsung. You can also download it yourself here, although we understand it is only available in the United States and Canada right now.
