Whilst there is no mention of the 1005HA-H and 1005HA-M SKUs, there will be two different models offered by the retailer. The configuration, which includes a 1.6GHz N270 Atom CPU, will cost $350 and is available in black or white. For a slightly faster CPU, 1.66GHz N280 processor, this will set you back $389 and will come in black or blue. There’s no signs of the Eee PC 1005HA’s pre-order availability in the UK right now.

The specifications of the 10.1-inch 1005HGO relates to the higher-end SKU (1005HA-H) which comes with a 1.66GHz N280 Atom CPU, Bluetooth and a longer battery life over the 1005HA-M SKU. It will come with the HUAWEI EM770 3G modem. Pricing and availability is unknown right now.

The manual is headlined Eee PC 1005HA / 1005HAB. We first heard of the 1005HAB when rumours of this device first circulated. However, up until now we don’t have any confirmation as to how the 1005HAB will differ from the 1005HA. We already know of the 1005HA-H and 1005HA-M models that were detailed by Asus France last week.

To be honest there is not too much that we didn’t know. However, it’s interesting to see that whilst an access panel has been provided for the memory slot, there is no easy access to the HDD. Also, I noticed that the array microphone has been moved adjacent to the top of the LDC display (next to the webcam). This may improve the sound quality when video conferencing. Other popular Eee PC lines, like the 1000HE, have this located on the bottom of the display.

As we saw yesterday it will come with the Eee Docking Software. This includes Eee Arena, which gives you access to Radio, Live TV and Games. Eee Sharing allows you to synchronize the data on your Eee PC with another PC at home. Eee Xperience gives you access to SRS software and the DVD player whilst Eee Tools has an update service. Whilst the product page doesn’t explicitly mention two different 1005HA SKUs, as mentioned by last week’s announcement (1005HA-H and 1005HA-M), the specs do suggest that this will be the case. There is an option for N270/N280 Atom CPUs, a 1.3MP or 0.3MP webcam and two different 6-cell battery options.

This 1005HA will share a similar design to the 1008HA, hence use of the Seashell name, but sport a removable battery unlike the 1008HA. This means that it is slightly heavier (1.27kg vs. 1.1kg) and thicker (36.5mm vs. 25.7mm) than the 1008AH. The 3-cell battery option will weigh 1.1kg.

There is not too much new information, although it looks like the Eee PC 1005HA will come with the new Eee Docking software and SRS sound software. The specifications do not make it easy to determine which SKU will get which features. However, I imagine it cannot be too different to last week’s announcement. It will come in a choice of four different colours (white, black, pink or blue). The 1005HA-H will cost €349 in Europe and the 1005HA-M will cost €299.

Asus’ John Swatton told them that only the 1008HA Seashell, the 1005HA (which was only announced today) and an as yet unnamed model will complete the UK line up. It does beg the question, what happens to the Eee PC T91 net tablet? According to Swatton, the 7-inch and 9-inch models will be reserved for sales to schools and other large organisations. Somehow, I find that hard to believe, especially given the amount of interest surrounding this particular 9-inch convertible tablet. Will Asus really restrict the sale of the T91 to the public? It seems a very odd move if true.

Only 10-inch models will be offered to the general public, all with Windows XP and 160GB hard drives. Swatton confirmed that sales of the 100HA Seashell have already sold out, but more units are on their way. The battery will come with a full 12-month collect-and-return warranty.

Many have criticised the fact that the 1008HA comes with a sealed battery, to address this, Asus will be introducing the 1005HA which will have a removable battery. The 1005HA will be entering the UK at a price point at around £350, which is £30 cheaper than the 1008HA Seashell. At this point it is unknown whether both SKUs of the 1005HA (1005HA-H and 1005HA-M) will be offered or just one of them. The best-selling Eee PC 1000HE will be making way for the 1005HA’s arrival.

Little information was given on the new model. Apparently it will come at a similar price point to the Eee PC 1000H and will be the entry level Eee PC netbook.

The two new netbooks will be marketed under the Seashell brand and be cheaper than the 1008HA Seashell which launches in the UK today. According to Blogeee, the Eee PC 1008HA will see its French launch exclusively through the Fnac retail chain for €399 in June. Both the Eee PC 1005HA-M and 1005HA-H will launch in July with a price point of €299 and €349 respectively. We’ll try to firm down UK pricing and release dates as soon as possible.

Looking at the price points above it seems that Asus could be onto a winner with the Eee PC 1005HA-M. It maintains the sleek looks of the 1008HA Seashell and exhibits only a few compromises but has a much better battery life. It comes with a 10-inch (1024 x 600) LED backlit display powered by a 1.6GHz N270 Atom CPU, 1GB RAM and a 160GB HDD. Other features will include Wi-Fi (including draft-N), 1.3MP webcam, card reader, three USB ports and an array microphone.

Importantly, the 1005HA-M will come with a removable 6-cell (2200mAh) battery that should last for around 8 hours according to Asus. It will be 26.2cm wide, 17.8cm deep with the thickness ranging from 2.65cm to 3.55cm. So for a price-point that sits €100 cheaper than the 1008HA Seashell, the 10005HA-M offers a removable battery with longer lasting life, an extra USB port but is heavier, thicker and comes with a slightly slower CPU (the 1008HA uses a 1.66GHz N280 CPU) and no Bluetooth. However, given the significantly lower cost, I believe that’s a trade-off many will make.

The Eee PC 1005HA-H costs €349 and will be similar to the 1008HA in most regards. It will have a 10-inch (1024 x 600) LED backlit display, use the 1.66GHz N280 CPU and have 1GB RAM and a 160GB HDD. It will also include Wi-Fi (draft-N), Bluetooth, a 1.3MP webcam, digital array mic, three USB ports. It mainly differs from the 1008HA Seashell by having that extra USB port, a removable 6- cell (2800mAh) battery that Asus claims will last for 10 hours. The removable battery means that it will weigh 1.4kg compared to 1.1kg for the 1008HA. The dimensions are the same as for the 1005HA-M, coming at around 1cm thicker than the 1008HA Seashell.
