Samsung N120 official product page up, full specs revealed

April 9, 2009 at 8:03 pm

Samsung N120Whilst Samsung announced the 10.1-inch N120 netbook a couple of weeks back, the full specifications were not released at the same time. Since then, a number of retailers have placed the N120 on pre-order which revealed a bit more about what we may find under the hood. However, Samsung has now put up the official specifications on its site.

The reason we find the N120 netbook interesting is its ability to fit in a full 12-inch keyboard into its chassis. It also benefits from a 2.1 speaker system (including subwoofer!) The specifications confirm the pre-order listings found from retailers with the netbook powered by a 1.6GHz N270 Atom CPU and 945GSE chipset. It will come with 1GB RAM and a 160GB (5,400 RPM) hard-disk drive. There will be a choice between black and white colours.

Samsung says that the maximum RAM the unit can handle is just 1GB, but I imagine this is a typo. Samsung listed the same for the N110 but then corrected the mistake later. Other features include WiFi (b/g only), Bluetooth 2.0, a 1.3MP webcam and a 6-cell battery. The N120 is just 1.2-inches in thickness and weighs 1.3Kg (2.8lbs). Click through for a full list of the specifications as well as press photos.

I can’t believe the N120 would not have an earphone jack, but yet none is mentioned.

    What gives?

Does the N120 have an earphone jack? None is listed.

Don’t worry, it appears to be an omission from the listing. If you look at the listing for the Black N120 it shows that a headphone out is included.

N110 vs N120 test would be intresting. There is not big differences and its difficult choise. Weight is almost same, N120 has bigger keyboard, little better battery time and subwoofer. Battery test would be intresting.

How its possible that N110 and N120 weight almost same.. There is only 9g difference. N120 is bigger and has subwoofer.. Wonder what makes N110 so ´heavy´.. Never seen so light and small subwoofer before.. 🙂

Agreed, the two machines are very similar – I think it will just come down to personal preference over a bigger keyboard. If the weights are very similar then I think this is nice situation to be in. You can have a more comfortable experince with very little down side!

What’s the extra key between “Alt” and “Spacebar” on the left-hand side?

From what I read on another site it is the tilde key. Need to see a high res pick to be sure though.

    You’re right, Igor.

Amazon’s got a great pic of the keyboard when you zoom in and drag it around:

Still can’t tell if the keys have a slight recessed bevel (which I like). Anybody know?

To Mika: Perhaps the N110 has a heavier build quality making it tougher but heavier. Just a thought…
