NbC Exclusive: Gigabyte P1080 and P1082 netbooks

April 22, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Gigabyte P1080 and P1082We have learned from a very reliable source that Gigabyte is set to launch a couple of new netbooks this June. The 10-inch Gigabyte P1080 and Gigabyte P1082 appear to have the exact same specifications from what I can tell. The only difference is that the P1080 will be a white model, whilst the P1082 will be in black.

These new models will sit at the lower end of its netbook range, coming in cheaper than the TouchNote T1028, Booktop M1022 and ThinNote S1024. Given this value positioning, the specifications do nothing to amaze.

The Gigabyte P1080/P1082 will come with a 10.2-inch (1024 x 600) display powered by a 1.6GHz N270 Atom CPU and 945GSE chipset. It will also come with 1GB RAM (2GB supported) and a (5400rpm) 160GB hard-disk drive. Wireless features will be supported by Wi-Fi (b/g), Bluetooth and optional 3G.

Other features include three USB ports, 3-in-1 card reader, a couple of audio jacks, VGA, Ethernet and a 1.3MP webcam. The P1080 will come with a 4-cell (4400 mAh) battery and will weigh 1.2kg (2.6lbs) with the battery included. The P1080/P1082 will have dimensions of 266(W) x 185(D) x 31(H) mm. We’ll come back with more information (including some better pictures) when we have it.

Someone can tell me if, after i choose the 3g version, to change the display to the HD resolution one? Or do the opposite, buying the HD dsplay versione and after modding the pc with an additional 3g card ( by express card or soldered)???

Because the t1028x has HD display 1368×768 but no 3G preinstalled or optional.

    t1028m has 3g preinstalled module but a 1024×600 screen.

Is it possible to upgrade aftermarket?

Which solution is easier or better?
