Viliv S10 Blade reviewed – solid convertible netbook

March 22, 2010 at 5:11 pm

Viliv S10 BladeThe Viliv S10 Blade is a 10-inch convertible tablet that comes with a 1366 x 768 display and is powered by a Silverthorne Intel processor (either a 1.6GHz Z530 or 2.0GHz Z550). It comes with various SSD storage options, 1GB RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium.

We recently the unboxing from Chippy over at UMPC Portal and now he has followed that up with an in-depth review of the device. The S10 Blade is lauded for its solid build quality, good battery life (7.5 hours at 70 percent brightness) and its near silent operation.

On the flip side, performance from its 1.6GHz Z530 Atom processor is pretty much the norm, the multi-touch tablet functionality won’t suit everyone and the 1.2kg weight is a bit on the heavy side to use in tablet mode. The S10 Blade is a premium over most other netbooks but comes with extra features that most netbooks can’t match. You can check out the full review here.

Update: JKKMobile also has his review up. Check out his video review below.

The device is fabulous – ideal for travel. Apple should have come out with something like this instead of the tablet only version of iPad.

After reading the review, I picked few of the following things that need to be corrected (standardised):

2GB or more RAM. 1GB RAM seems very low.
Ethernet. Never know when wireless can give up.
Separate mic/headphone input. This has to be there for ease of the traveller.
Speakers better be loud and good. I see they suck in this.

Rest of the things can be tweaked .. hopefully !! I hope Nokia can come out with something similar .. am sure they’ll do a much better job than Viliv. I think this is a form factor I would like to own in future – tablet cum netbook (with keyboard).

I really should get my self one of this little notebooks. Much easier to wear around, because I can even put it to my handbag.

I love how slim it is and how heavy it is for his size.
