Samsung X120 ultra-thin video unboxing
January 31, 2010 at 8:46 pm
We have covered Samsung’s X120 CULV-based ultra-thin before, including a review roundup back in early November. However, what we never saw up until now was the obligatory unboxing. Well here it is, courtesy of Roland from NetbookNews.
It looks like a reasonably attractive device although I don’t really understand why Samsung opted for mouse buttons either side of the touchpad rather than underneath it. Check out the video yourself after the jump.
Roland also unboxed the Acer Aspire 1810TZ and we’ve attached that video below too. Read more
Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ review roundup – great battery life
November 27, 2009 at 4:53 pm
The number of 11.6-inch CULV-powered ultra-thins coming onto the market is bewildering. No company wants to be left behind in this lucrative segment that sits between netbook and notebook. Acer is attacking this market with a number of models, albeit each with slightly different specs. The Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ is powered by a 1.3GHz Pentium dual-core SU4100 processor, 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD and Windows 7 Home Premium.
TrustedReviews reviewed the 1810TZ and came away with positive impressions and scored it 9/10. They even went as far to say that “the 1810TZ is about as close as we’ve ever come to giving a laptop a 10/10.” One of the main things they were most impressed with was that it’s 6-cell 5600mAh battery lasted for an enduring eight hours and 43 minutes. We first brought you details of the Acer Aspire Timeline AS1810TZ over two months ago. However, it’s taken all this time for Acer to officially announce the device for the US market. The 11.6-inch AS1810TZ features a 1.3GHz dual-core SU7300 processor and will launch with Windows 7 Home Premium on October 22nd from $549.99.
The company is quoting eight hours of battery life using its high capacity 6-cell battery.
Other features include a multi-gesture touchpad, Wi-Fi (Draft-N) and a webcam. The netbook weighs just 3.08lbs (1.4kg). At its thickest point, the AS1810TZ measures just over one-inch in thickness. It will be available in three colours (Diamond Black, Sapphire Blue, Brushed Aluminum). Check out the specifications after the jump. Read more
Acer’s 11.6-inch Aspire 1810TZ to feature dual-core CULV processor
August 13, 2009 at 2:56 pm
We already know about the Acer Aspire Timeline 1810 11.6-inch ultra-thin, however it appears that a more powerful version may be on the horizon. The Aspire 1810TZ has appeared on the official Acer China site and the extra Z denotes the inclusion of a 1.3GHz dual-core SU4100 chip. This compares to the 1.4Ghz single-core SU3500 processor found in the 1810T.
Both chips come with the same 800MHz FSB and are based on the 45nm Penryn core. The SU4100 has a 2MB cache compared to 3MB for the SU3500. As you would expect the TDP of the SU4100 is nearly double (10W) than that of the SU3500 (5.5W).
There’s no word on which regions the 1801TZ is expected to appear in, however it is also listed on the US-based Energy Star site that could mean a US release. The other specifications remain the same. We’ll bring you more information as we have it.
