MSI Wind U140 finally set to make an appearance

May 8, 2010 at 6:32 pm

MSI Wind U140We first heard of the MSI Wind U140 back in December last year, but it’s not had any formal announcement or release since then. However, it looks like MSI is finally set to announce Wind U140 at Computex following an official press release.

The particular model to be showcased includes WiMAX but I’d expect a non-WiMAX version too. The only official information from the press release is that the U140 will be powered by the 1.66GHz N450 Atom processor and will weigh 1.2kg with the 3-cell battery. Further information is expected at Computex in a few weeks time.

MSI Wind U140We first told you about the Wind U140 Pine Trail netbook back in December. At the time, we thought we might see it announced at CES along with the U130, U135 and U160 models, however it never appeared.

A few photos of the Wind U140 from December 2009 have now been unearthed. It’s still unknown whether the U140 will be formally announced and for what regions, but if you’re curious to know what it looks like then you can check out a few photos after the break. Read more

MSI Wind U130, U135, U140 & U160 Pineview netbooks on horizon

December 21, 2009 at 9:45 am

MSI Wind U135We have it on good authority that MSI is set to launch its own range of Intel Pine Trail Atom netbooks including the Wind U130, U135, U140 and U160 models. Details are scant on the models themselves apart from the fact that they will use the 1.66GHz N450 Atom Pineview processor.

The U130 and U135 models are expected to be similar to the U100 but with a larger touchpad. The U140 is said to use the same chassis as the U123. The U160 will come in a super skinny chassis. Whether this means it is a CULV ultra-thin or fanless Pineview Atom model is unknown at this stage.

The U130, U135 and U140 are expected to be 10-inch netbooks although we couldn’t confirm whether this is the case for the U160. We believe that MSI is lining up these netbooks for a CES 2010 launch in January. We’ll bring you further news as we have it. In the meantime, check out the first picture of the MSI Wind U135 below.
