HP Compaq Mini 110c tested

The HP Compaq Mini 110c is the European equivalent of the HP Mini 110 netbook released in the US. The Compaq 110c is almost exactly the same as the Mini 110, it mainly differs in having a high-gloss ‘infinity’ imprint finish, which compares to the swirl design of the Mini 110.

TrustedReviews has reviewed the Mini 110c and found that it is a competent netbook with a great keyboard and offers good value for money. However, they felt other similarly priced netbooks offer battery life. Overall it scored 7/10. Check out the key review points after the jump.

The specifications of the review sample were your typical 1.6GHz N270 Atom, 1GB RAM and a 160GB HDD. Other features include Wi-Fi (b/g), Wi-Fi, and a webcam.

Key HP Compaq Mini 110c review points:

• The Mini 110c is chunkier and has a full-sized VGA output compared to its predecessor, the Compaq Mini 700.
• It has a cheaper feel to it than the Mini 700, the internals have a matte black finish and no flush display. However, on the outside, the glossy lid attracts fingerprints. It feels well put together.
• The 10-inch (1024 x 576) display has an anti-glare finish to it. It is bright and sharp although colour reproduction is just “passable”.
• The 92-percent keyboard stretches to the edges. The keys have ample spacing and are comfortable to type on.
• The touchpad is unchanged with mouse buttons on either side of the touchpad.
• One audio port serves for both headphone and mic functionality.
• The Compaq Mini 110c offers good value for money. Prices of the Mini 110c will start from £249 for a 3-cell version and £279 for the 6-cell version.
• The 3-cell (28Wh) battery managed two and a half hours of video playback. The 6-cell battery should double that time.
• The Compaq Mini 110c will come with Windows XP only, you won’t get the Linux SKU as seen in the US under the HP Mini 110 Mi Edition.
