Netbook vs iPad vs Smartphone [Video showdown]

The arrival of Apple’s iPad has led many to forecast the end of the netbook. In our view, each serve a different purpose, but to highlight some of those points Cnet UK has a good video comparing the iPad against a netbook (Nokia Booklet 3G) and smartphone (Nexus One) for everyday tasks.
It’s all a bit of fun but highlights some practical points about where each gadget has its positives/negatives. Check out the video after the break.

Seems odd that Apple took potshots at the netbook ( … why compare the iPad at all with a netbook in the first place ??) and then they (Apple) go on to add a keyboard ‘from the outside’ as a much-required accessory to make it more user-friendly ( ..ahem…like a netbook). Yea ..right! Now why doesn’t Apple just make a netbook instead as well ?
Other dodo manufacturers are following suit by presuming tablets are ‘already’ a success. Tablets will sell well for a while since ‘Apple’ has manufactured ’em but netbook is way better suited form factor for most tasks & netbooks will ‘always’ remain the better choice. Just ask Flora 😉 Let the hype die down and one will see the tablet sales easing out and normalising. We might then see more of the swivel screen netbook cum tablet devices with touch capabilties gaining ground – best of both.
I just felt the Nokia 3G Booklet kicked iPad’s ass in terms of sexiness .. just imagine a touch capable swivel screen Nokia 3G Booklet cum tablet device. That’ll be really cool !!
