iiView A2 netbook gets Windows 7 and US launch
October 20, 2009 at 11:47 am
The iiView A2 netbook already launched earlier this year, however the company has now officially announced its availability in the United States where it will cost a very reasonable $399. Keeping it fresh, it will also launch with Windows 7 Home Premium.
Remember, this price is for a netbook with a 12.1-inch (1280 x 800) display, 1.6GHz N270 Atom processor, 2GB RAM and a 320GB HDD. Other features include Wi-Fi (Draft-N), Webcam and 6-cell battery good for three hours.
Okay, whilst the specs may not fly off the page, the company seems to have got the pricing proposition right, especially given the lack of brand recognition in what is an over-crowded market. It is set to launch on October 22nd.

Following on from an unboxing last week, the 12.1-inch iiView A2 netbook has now been reviewed by BabyPC. Impressions were favourable with the iiView A2 being solidly built and good performance from the machine, which comes preinstalled with Windows 7 RC. It also has a matte display and glossy finish on the exterior.
The keyboard was comfortable to use, although given the size of the chassis, it would have been better if it extended closer to the edges. It also comes with a number of useful applications including RocketDock, avast!, Win RAR and Skype. You can check out their video impressions after the break. Read more

We already brought you word on the iiView A2 12.1-inch netbook that strikes more than resemblance to the Macbook Air. Well it looks like the guys over at BabyPC have managed to go hands-on with the unit and promptly shot an unboxing video.
Their opinion is that it looks more akin to the Asus Eee PC 1101HA, rather than the Air but is still quite thin all the same. It also has a large access panel on the bottom for the HDD and RAM.
The iiView A2 has a 12.1-inch display with resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It is powered by a 1.6GHz N270 Atom CPU, Intel 945GSE chipset, 2GB RAM and a 320GB HDD. Other specs include mini HDMI port, two USB ports, Wi-Fi (b/g) and a 6-cell battery. Check out the video after the break. Read more
iiView A2 launches 12.1-inch netbook

Singaporean manufacturer, iiView, has demonstrated a new 12.1-inch netbook called the A2, which has more than a resemblance to the Macbook Air. The company’s aim was to create something that looked different to your average netbook, even if its specs are rather ordinary.
The iiView has taken more than a few design cues from the Macbook Air, with a few ports hidden behind flaps. Interestingly, the machine comes pre-installed with the Windows 7 Release Candidate. So what do you do when the W7 RC runs out? iiView has thought of that and included a Vista Home Premium license, which is eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium.
It will hit Singapore retail next week for S$699 (US$467.78).
