Asus Eee PC 1008HA netbook hits the FCC

The Asus Eee PC 1008HA is certainly one of the most attractive netbooks due for release soon. The 10-inch netbook is just 1-inch thick and weighs 1.1Kg (2.4lbs). The 1008HA is expected to be launched in the UK this month at a price point of £359. The US launch should follow soon as the 1008HA has now hit the FCC.
There aren’t any test photos (either internal or external) of the 1008HA, the only one I came across showed the bottom of the unit with the label and FCC certification location. What is concerning is that there appears to be a lack of access panels for the HDD and RAM. Also, I can’t seem to make out a removable battery either. I really hope Asus don’t go the way of the Macbook Air with its sealed battery as I’m sure that would be a turn-off for many.
The Eee PC 1008HA has a 10.2-inch LED backlit screen which supports a resolution of 1024 x 600 and is powered by an Intel N280 Atom CPU and 1GB of RAM. It will also come with a 160GB hard-disk drive.

Asus Eee PC 1008HA UK pricing revealed

The Asus Eee PC 1008HA is one of our most eagerly anticipated netbooks. We have just found out that that the 1000HA is expected to go on sale in the UK at a price point of £359 (including VAT). Crudely taking the current exchange rate would give a price point of $511 in the US or €382 in Europe.
The 1008HA has some wonderful looks and the internals aren’t too shabby either. The 10.2-inch LED backlit screen supports a resolution of 1024 x 600 and is powered by an Intel N280 Atom CPU and 1GB of RAM. It will also come with a 160GB hard-disk drive, no SSD versions of the 1008HA are currently planned. It is just 1-inch thick and weighs 1.1kg. The unit is expected to be released next month.
Asus S121 previewed – style over substance?

There is no doubting that the Asus S101 is one of the prettiest netbooks on the market at the moment. It’s bigger brother, the 12-inch Asus S121, looks even better and according to the guys over at TrustedReviews, even nicer than Asus’ 1008HA.
Apart from the great looks they found the S121 a pleasure to use with excellent battery life along with it having the best Asus keyboard they’ve used to date. On the negative side, this isn’t the speediest netbook around (running at only 1.3GHz) with only 1GB RAM and 160GB HDD (rather than dual-storage system of the S101). Also, given a WXGA display, it seems that the most isn’t made of the screen as there is little chance of running HD content on the S121 given the weak CPU. Hopefully a refresh with the Intel GN40 or Nvidia Ion is on the horizon. Key points and more pictures after the jump. Read more
Asus Eee PC 1008HA Dock App in action

Asus’ upcoming slimline 1008HA won’t just be relying on its good looks, a new desktop application bar called Eee Docking debuts on this netbook. The Dock App provides one-click access to a full suite of Asus exclusive software. This includes ‘Eee Arena’ which gives access to multimedia content and ‘Eee Sharing’ allowing easier online data synchronisation with Eee storage. There’s also an Eee Xperience section for managing audio and video content, and a tools section that provides access to various settings. Engadget’s video of this dock in action, shows that the pull-out dock can be positioned on any side of the screen. The main criticisms they had were that it felt sluggish and more importantly didn’t allow the customisation of apps apart from Asus’ own. Hopefully, this will be rectified by the time it launches.

The more we see shots of the Asus Eee PC Seashell 1008HA, the more we like it. It certainly wins the sexiest netbook of CeBIT so far. The chaps over at Jkkmobile, NetbookNews & UMPCPortal went hands-on with the 1008HA and came away very impressed. Some of the key points include a sturdy design and, a solid keyboard (a big improvement over the 1000HA apparently). On the negative side, it looks like the system’s battery is built into the casing and non-replaceable, however given that this is a prototype this is subject to change.
As a reminder, the 1008HA is a 10-inch netbook, just 1-inch thick and weighs 1.1Kg. We’ve listed the specifications that we know of so far after the jump. We hope to have further details on pricing and release date soon. The rumours we’ve heard suggest a ‘Spring’ release date and a price point of 600 Euros. Asus Eee PC ‘Seashell’ 1008HA showcased

Asus has shown off it’s latest Eee PC netbook called the Seashell 1008HA. Details are thin on the ground in terms of specifications however what we do know is that the Seashell is a slimline Eee (1 inch thick) with a 92 per cent-size keyboard and multitouch keypad, weighing approximately 1kg. It will also have a 1.3-megapixel camera and standard WiFi and Bluetooth. The 1008HA will have optional WiMAX and 3.5G connectivity. No word yet on how much the device will cost nor any details on release date. We will keep you posted on further developments.
