April 19, 2010 at 8:29 pm
Two mysterious Asus Eee PC netbooks were spotted last week and these included the R101 and R105 models. Whilst nothing was revealed at the time, it looks like an Amazon.de listing has spilled the beans on the R101.
Two models are listed on Amazon Germany. The Eee PC R101 is your typical netbook fare with a 10.1-inch display, N450 Atom, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Windows XP. This model is listed for €249. Read more
Acer Aspire One 521: AMD powered 10” netbook with HDMI
April 19, 2010 at 7:31 pm
Acer has a new AMD-powered netbook on the horizon called the Aspire One 521. Trusted source macles has come up with the details who says that this 10-inch model will feature the AMD V105 processor. This CPU will not be formally announced until May, but we know that it is the slowest single-core of the “Nile” platform. It is clocked at 1.2GHz and comes with 512KB L2 Cache, a TDP of 9W and DDR3 support.
The AMD V105 CPU is paired with the AMD M880G chipset. The AAO 521 will also come with the as yet unannounced ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 graphics core that has 384MB of dedicated video memory. Performance is unknown although I wouldn’t expect ION levels of graphical fidelity, however a HDMI port will be included. Read more
Dual-core Atom processor to be clocked at 1.5GHz?
April 19, 2010 at 6:00 pm
We already know that Intel is planning to announce a new dual-core Atom processor for netbooks in Q2 2010, although we were lacking details. Now Fudzilla is reporting that at least one of the SKUs will be clocked at 1.50GHz.
This 45nm part will have a TDP of 8.5W for the processor and graphics. This could mean that netbooks sporting dual-core Atom processors may have a TDP just 20 percent higher than netbooks with single-core Atoms. Read more

April 17, 2010 at 4:59 pm
Last year everyone was jumping on the netbook bandwagon, this year it’s all about tablets. The latest behemoth believed to be prepping their own competitor to the Apple iPad is Dell.
Engadget received word along with some images of some unannounced 7-inch and 10-inch Streak tablets. The smaller version is expected to arrive later this year and the latter will launch in 2011. That’s all the detail we have for now, no word on specs or pricing.
Viliv S10 Blade delayed until May
April 17, 2010 at 4:50 pm
The Viliv’s 10-inch convertible netbook, the S10 Blade, has been delayed from its original April 22 ship date. Depending on which model you ordered, it will not ship until April 27 for the 1.33GHz Z530 Atom variants and May 10 for the 2.0GHz Atom Z550 Atom models.
The entry-level model with a standard 60GB HDD and Windows XP will ship on May 7, whilst the 32GB SSD model will ship on May 5. Reasons for the delay haven’t been made clear, although importer Dynamism has told one customer that it has been “delayed by the factory”.

Asus Eee PC 900AX, 1201K and 1201X netbooks uncovered
April 17, 2010 at 4:40 pm
A new Asus Eee PC 900 model passed through the FCC yesterday. The 900AX is likely to be an 8.9-inch model powered by an Intel Atom processor running either Windows XP or Linux. Given the age of this line of Asus netbooks I’d be surprised to see it turn up in Europe or the US, although there may be other regions that Asus is planning to target with this netbook.
A couple of new 12-inch model names were unearthed too. This includes the Asus Eee PC 1201K and 1201X. These models were spotted over on Asus’ support pages. As to how different these are to the current 1201 range remains a mystery for now.

Asus Eee PC 1015PE press shots unveiled
April 16, 2010 at 5:50 pm
One of Asus’ upcoming netbooks, the Eee PC 1015PE, was first spotted at CeBIT. It’s sleeker than the 1005PE offering a larger touchpad, a toggle switch for the webcam along with a matte display and lid.
Pierre from Blogeee managed to get hold of some official press shots of the 1015PE and it’s looking like a nice update. I especially like the chrome effect used on the sides of the touchpad. Check out Blogeee for the full gallery.
Toshiba plans Android & twin-screen Windows tablets
April 15, 2010 at 3:09 pm
We already heard that Toshiba were preparing to launch its own tablets by Q1 2011 and now we have a bit more detail on the slates themselves. According to a Reuters report, Toshiba will launch at least one 10-inch tablet on the Android platform and another “dual-screen model running Windows.”
These tablets are expected to be media consumption devices, much like the Apple iPad. The company also doesn’t expect tablets to cannibalise other devices. “We definitely see a place for the slate, we see there’s a market there” says Jeff Barney, general manager of digital products for Toshiba America. “It’ll be expansive like netbooks, it won’t be cannibalistic … Media consumption on these slates will be the main user activity.” Read more

Samsung NB30 Touch reviewed – good multitouch performance
April 15, 2010 at 11:08 am
The Samsung NB30 Touch was officially launched in Italy yesterday. It is similar in most respects to the rugged NB30 netbook but comes with a 10-inch touchscreen display. GeekNews have reviewed a pre-production NB30 Touch already and liked what they saw.
It’s nice to see the netbook sport a matte display, that should hopefully make fingerprint marks less of an issue compared to a glossy touchscreen. It’s also worth noting that it comes with a multitouch capacitive display, something we weren’t sure of on its official announcement. Performance from the 1.66GHz N450 Atom processor was fine along with the response of the screen. Read more
Acer’s dual-booting Aspire One D260 handled on video
April 15, 2010 at 10:56 am
The Acer Aspire One D260 is believed to be the Pine Trail update to last years Android/Windows dual-booting AAO D250. The D260 is believed to be similar to the D250 albeit sporting a redesigned chassis.
French site, RueDuCommerce, has managed to get an exclusive look at the D260 and give a quick video tour of the netbook. He doesn’t switch it on so we don’t get to see it booting, but we get a good look at the patterned palm rest, chiclet keyboard and ports. Check out the video after the break. Read more

If you were considering buying a Dell Mini 10v then fear not as Amazon is still selling the model, although you’d better act quick as it may not be around for long.

The recently announced Lenovo Ideapad S10-3s netbook has landed in China and a few sites including Digi.tech have managed to get hands on. The S10-3s is slimmer than the S10-3 and has an optional high-resolution (1280 x 720) display.

Asus Eee PC R101 and R105 netbooks on the horizon?
April 14, 2010 at 3:01 pm
Asus may be shortly looking to introduce two new netbooks, dubbed the Eee PC R101 and R105. Both models have popped up on the Asus support pages, where you can already download a bunch of stuff including BIOS and various drivers.
There’s little other detail for now, we’ve got no idea what sized display this new model will have and neither what specs will be included. What we do know is that it is a Pine Trail product and comes with the Intel NM10 chipset. I would expect these new devices to be launched at Computex that is six weeks away now.

Apple delays international iPad launch by a month
April 14, 2010 at 2:45 pm
Apple is postponing the UK launch of the Apple iPad by one month to the end of May, following what the company cites as “surprisingly strong US demand.” Pre-orders start on May 10, but pricing in international markets remains a mystery.
Apple says that it shipping over 500,000 iPads during the first week and that demand will “continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks.” This demand even extends to the 3G models of which it says it has taken a “large number of pre-orders.”
